In Daoist philosophy, true vitality arises from balancing the Three Treasures: Jing, Qi, and Shen. We are born with a certain amount of Jing, our foundational essence. Through nourishment, breath, movement, and mindful living, we preserve and support Jing while cultivating Qi, creating the foundation for lasting vitality and inner balance. Together the two combine to create Shen (spirit). The philosophy can be explained in a metaphor to a candle.
