Description
The Red Lotus – (Nymphaea rubra)
Also known as the Indian Red Water Lily, Pink Lotus and Sacred Lotus. It is native to India and Bangladesh. It has been declared as the National flower of India and has many symbolic uses in the myth and lore of Buddhism and Hinduism. Many gods and goddesses in Hindu mythology are shown sitting or emerging from the lotus symbol. It is also believed the lotus carried the essence of Buddha. In Hinduism, the Red Lotus is associated with beauty, fertility, eternity, and is considered the womb of the universe.
Chemically it has similar amounts of the same compounds found in the Blue Lotus.
